Post #4...Due by Wednesday 8 am!

Although it is often said that a movie is never as good as a book, it seems that we are constantly seeing books on the big screen...

If you were to produce the movie version of your book, who would play the major parts? Why did you pick these actors/actresses? Do you think your book would make a good movie? What changes would you make to the plot of the book to make the movie appeal to the general public?

  1. If my book "How to Save a Life" were to become a movie. I would have bella from twilight be the girl that is pregnant because let's face it she's over dramatic just like the girl in the book. An the other girl I would have Amanda Byne play because she's such a good actor.... And if this book were to become a movie then I would change how it ends because the ending was not satisfying.

    1. Kristin Stewart is a very dramatic actress. I agree.

    2. I've always though that she was never dramatic enough. Or at least in the right way...

    3. I agree with Karen, Kristen Stewart doesn't show enough emotion or facial expressions in her acting. She may be a good actor, but she isn't emotional enough and that makes her acting very had to believe.

    4. i think sometimes she is dramatic.

    5. Kristen Stewart does show emotion, but I wouldn't consider her dramatic at all. She acts according to the story line of the movies, though she's most known through twilight. which, she isn't very outgoing during.

  2. If my book "Nothing Special" was a movie I would have Logan Lerman From "Perks of Being a Wallflower" play Felton the main character, who is trying to help his brother. I would choose him because he is good at playing a serious role but also putting a little comedy in it. I would also have Griffin Gluck from "Just Go With It" play Andrew, Felton's little brother because he fits the description of the character well. If this book were to become a movie I would change that they call their mother Jerri because that bothers me.

    1. But wouldn't that change the characters because there must be a reason why they call the mother jerri.

    2. I agree with Ashtyn. You can't change certain elements of a book when making it into a movie or else it would change everything.

  3. If my book,"My Book of Life by Angel" was developed into a movie I would have Elle Fanning play Melli, Amanda Seyfried as Angel, and Shia Labeouf as Call. To start with, Elle Fanning would fit the part of Melli because she is around the same age as Melli, and both girls have very young and innocent features. Additionally, Amanda Seyfried would be a great choice for Angel because she is known for some of her more serious movies such as In Time and Nine Lives. Amanda has even played a similar role to Angel's in the movie Chloe as a service woman. Similar to Amanda, Shia has played many serious roles and I could see him playing a controlling and manipulative character. I think "My Book of Life by Angel" would be an amazing movie because it shows you the reality of what happens to young girls in our society. I would not change the plot of the book because I feel that this unique story would grasps the general public's attention enough to want to go watch it.

  5. If I were to make a movie about "Sorta Like a Rockstar" the main character would be played by Abigail Breslin. The main character, Amber Appleton is a very down to earth, sassy, and funny character and Breslin has played that type of role many times and played it well. I don't think my book will make a good movie because there isn't one major issue in the book to be solved, instead it's just about life of a teenage hobo. To make the movie appeal to more people I would make it so that Amber had to go to foster care after her mom died because it creates an interesting story as to how she adapts to that environment.

  6. If my book, "Why We Broke Up', were to be turned into a movie, I would have Taylor Swift play the part of Min because even though Taylor Swift is very glamorous while Min is not, Taylor Swift has a lot of different styles and can dress down and look a lot less like a famous idol easily, also, Taylor Swift is very good at playing a shy-girl next door-caring-yet very different than any other girl you've ever met, type of girl. To play the part of Ed, I would probably have Zac Efron because he can play a very athletic high school guy that every girl in school likes, is very popular, and usually doesn't date the shy girl. He can also be very sweet and caring exactly like Ed's character. To make the book more interesting as a movie, I would probably incorporate more drama between Min and her friends to make it seem more realistic because in real life, if you ditch your friends all the time for a guy, they would freak out on you a lot more than Min's friends are.

    1. When you described Ed's character as a very athletic popular high school guy that every girl likes it did remind me of Zac Efron. Zac's role as Troy in High School Musical is very similar to Ed's character. I agree that Zac would be a good choice to play Ed.

  8. If I were to produce my book, "Rot & Ruin" I would have Evan Peter play lead role as Benny because he is gets very deep with his roles. I would have Aaron Paul play Tom because he is a great actor and can get into many different emotional roles. Emma Stone would play the Lost Girl because she is intelligent and compassionate. For my book I would shorten some unimportant parts and I would get rid of Benny's love interest, Nix, because she has nothing to do with plot development.

  9. If my book "The Hear is Not a Size" were to turned into a movie i would have Alyson Stoner play the part of Riley because she is really funny, and I would have Zendaya act as Georgia because Georgia is a very sweet and sensitive person. I think that my book would make a good movie because of the characters that are in it. To make this book into an interesting movie i would say that Georgia's mom died, and she and her brothers weren't doing very well in life and her best friend Riley helps her out.

  10. If my book "The Reformed Vampire Support Group" were to ever be turned into a movie, i would have kristen stewart play the part of Nina because shes a little dark and misterious but also young and innocent, and i would have Josh Hutchingson play the role of Dave because he's brave and has that love factor to him. in order to make this book into an interesting mopvie,i probably wouldnt have to change much. my book is detailed in interesting but not excrutiatingly long. i most likely wouldnt have to shorten or change anything.

  11. if i turned my book into a movie, i would have will smith play as mitch because will smith can act as any character. i would have samuel l. jackson play as the mysterious football player because samuel l. jackson can be very mysterious when he acts.i would change anything about the story to make a movie because the book is very detailed and it would be great as a movie.

  12. If I turned my book into a movie, I would have Josh Hutcherson play the lead role Ben. I would pick Josh hutcherson to play Ben because Ben is a very brave and opiniated teen in my book. Ben stands up to his dad a lot in the book because of their differences of opinion with Zan. I have seen The Hunger Games and Josh (who plays peeta) has strong opinions about the Hunger Games. Peeta doesn't want to be a piece in their games. Also, both Ben and josh can be a bit rebellious. Yes I think that people would want to watch my movie especially with Josh Hutcherson in it. Half Brother has a very interesting plot line and I wouldn't want to make any changes to it.

  13. If I was produce my book "Not That Kind of Girl" I would play Amanda Bynes as Natalie because she seems very mature enough to play a senior in high school. As for Connor, his character would be played by Taylor Lautner because he gives off that high school jock ora (if that makes sense). Autumn would be played by Jennete McCurdy because she seems like she could be a good best friend, but also a girl that wants to go to parties and have fun. Last but not least, Amanda Cosgrove would play Spencer because she's skinny and can play a good "Rossstitute" as stated in the book. Amanda has very good acting skills and could probably play any character given to her. My book would make a good high school drama movie. I would probably make it more dramatic and have Natalie going out with Conner, but Autumn and Conner would be messing around behind Natalie's back. And Spencer would be Natalie's younger sister.

  14. If I were to produce my book "The Alchemist" into a movie, I would choose Blake Michael because he is similar to how Santiago is described. As for the Alchemist, I would choose Liam Neeson to portray him. Liam Neeson is one of my favorite actors. He is a good actor and seems to fit any part. Personally if my book would become a movie, I wouldn't watch it. It seems like it would be a boring movie. If I could change anything about the book, I would make all the characters speak English instead of Arabic.

  15. If i were to produce "Scrawl" into a movie I would make Kyle Swann Tod because he can act as a bully but can also be kindhearted too. Also, I would make Emma Pillsbury into Mrs. Woodrow because all she wants to do is help Tod which is how Emma acts(nice).

  16. Had I been given the chance to reproduce "In the Time of the Butterflies" (It was made into a movie in the 90s), I would have Michelle Rodriguez act as Minerva and Zoe Saldana as Dede. Yes, there are four sisters in the novel, but Minerva and Dede are the most important of characters, apart from Trujillio, the dictator of the Dominican Republic during the time this novel is set to take place. Michelle Rodriguez, I feel would be able to magnify the strong willed sense of being Minerva had throughout the novel. The role requires someone who can exert the determined spirit of Minerva. Zoe, I feel would be a great actress to play Dede because of her diversity. She could play the role of a Dominican woman, but add her own influences with having sisters and relating her world to her role. She could become Dede, in a sense. I think my book would make an interesting movie, though the time that father Mirabal is held in custody shouldn't be taken from the perspective of the daughters. Much was left out about what happened specifically to him, yet nor should the movie switch perspective quite as often as the book had. I feel it's easier to lose interest in a movie rather than a novel. Thus, parts need to be explained, but tastefully.

  17. if I were to make "Will Grayson, Will Grayson" into a movie, I wouldn't be sure who to cast. For some characters I have an idea, but for others I don't. The two characters I have ideas for are the first Will and Jane. I would either cast Logan Lerman or Andrew Garfield for the first Will. And I would cast Emma Stone for Jane. (I would probably go with Andrew, because he and Emma have awesome chemistry in movies.) Andrew's sort of goofy and clever but he can be serious, and Emma's really Jane-like. There is literally no way to describe Jane. But Emma Stone would fit for her.

  18. If my book could be turned into a movie I think the Freddie Highmore would play the main character Dan. I think this actor would best fit the main character. I think my book would make a very interesting movie. I think this because some people would be able to relate to it. The only change I would make to this book is that I would add another chapter at the end. The last chapter didn't really end how I expected it to. I think that the author should have added more to the last chapter because it leaves me wondering what else happened. In my opinion the author didn't really give a good ending.

  19. If my book were to be turned into a movie I would have Mary-Kate Olsen play the role of Norrie because she is good actress. I would also have Jennett McCurdy be Jane because this character is rebellious and Jennett does those kind of roles. And I would have AnnaSophia Rob as the Sassy because Sassy is a very innocent girl and AnnaSohia can pay this part. A change I would make in the movie is make the parents have a reaction to what their daughter do because they don't tell them anything at all.

  20. If I were to produce my book into a movie I would have Milla Jovovich play as Jett Gallatin. She has acted in similar movies like Resident Evil series. She's can adapt to different styles and like she has played similar roles shes perfect for my book. I would have Scarlett Johansson play Honoria Gibbons since she's cunning and is an amazing actor. Finally Emma Stone would play White Fox because she has acted in many movies and she would adapt quickly. I don't know if it would be a great movie, but at least i would change the plot. Instead of it taking place in West Texas in 1867, it would take place in modern time in a modern city like New York City.

  21. If I were to make my book into a movie I would have Christen Stewart play the main character because she has a very monotone expression on her face all the time. She’s not very outgoing although the things that go on in her head are very significant she doesn’t like to say much unless it’s absolutely necessary. This girls personality is very similar to the people this actress has played. I would definitely emphasize the gruesome parts of the book making it extremely detailed because even though the book has some romance in it, that’s not what it’s about. It’s about a ghost haunting this young girl and its reasons for doing so. It would focus on the stories main parts and less on the idle love scenes. Because even though romance is okay if people are watching a movie that is advertised to make them scared that’s exactly what I’m aiming for.

  22. If my book “Trash” were to become a movie, I would have Aziz Ansari, Michael Cera, and Jaden Smith play the three main boys, Raphael, Gardo, and Jun-Jun, also known as Rat. The characters these actors have played in the past have had personalities and roles very similar to those of these three boys. I think this book would make an excellent movie, since it would be showing how bad poverty in other countries is, and that it is serious. If I were to make any changes to the plot of the book in order to make a movie out of it, I would put some kind of romance in it. Most audiences today tend to watch movies that have to do with romance and drama. Adding romance to the plot of “Trash” would most likely make the movie appeal to the general public.

  23. If there was ever a movie made of the book Jump, the two main characters , without a doubt, would have to be Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson. They both have that adventurous way of acting that would really bring this movie to life.Jennifer would play the role of P.K. and Josh would play the role of critter. As seen in The Hunger Games the two make a great pair and complement each other.

  24. If my novel "Faking Faith" were to become a movie, I would cast Emily Osment as the role of main character Dylan, or "Faith." I'd use her because in the movie "Cyberbully", she was in a much similar position and played the part of a distraught teenage girl pretty well. Also, the factor of media devices coming into play, I figured it works. For the role of Abigail, I would have Demi Lovato play her part. I would pick her because she was proper and polite and from a well raised family in the movie "The Princess Protection Program". Seeing her take the part of a polite, respectful and modest princess; she can SO pull off the part of the saint, Abigail. Both of these leads in my opinion are well fitting, especially seeing them in prior movies playing similar parts. It just works. Actually, I think this book would be a very good movie. I could already picture everything in my mind while reading it, and let me tell you that's quite interesting. It's such an absolutely shocking and intriguing plot line, tampering with it wouldn't change it for the better. The only change I would make, (also due to the actresses natural hair), make Dylan or "Faith", the blonde and Abigail the brunette. Otherwise, I'm entirely content with leaving the story as is.
